Is this password generator secure?
Yes — it uses the browser's crypto.getRandomValues() API, which provides cryptographically secure random numbers. The generated passwords are never sent to any server, logged, or stored. Each password lives only in your browser tab until you copy it.
What makes a password strong?
Length + character variety + unpredictability. NIST guidelines recommend at least 12 characters with mixed case, numbers, and symbols. The strength meter on this page estimates entropy: passwords above 60 bits of entropy are 'Strong' and resist offline brute-force attacks for years.
Should I exclude similar characters (i, l, 1, L, o, 0, O)?
Optional. Excluding them helps when you might need to type the password from a printout or read it aloud, where 'l' and '1' or 'O' and '0' are easily confused. For passwords you'll only copy-paste, leave them in for maximum entropy.
Is the password I generate private?
Completely. Generation happens entirely in your browser using built-in crypto APIs. No data leaves your device. The page has no analytics on generated passwords.
How long should my password be?
For most accounts: 16-20 characters with all character types. For very high-security accounts (banking, password manager master): 24+ characters. For PINs or codes you'll memorize: shorter passwords with a longer passphrase strategy may be more practical.
Can I generate multiple passwords at once?

Should I reuse this password across accounts?
Never. Every account should have a unique password. Use a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, KeePass) to store them. This tool generates the passwords; the manager holds them securely.
What if my service rejects certain symbols?
Some sites disallow specific symbols. Turn off 'Symbols' in the settings, or generate and edit by hand to remove unsupported characters. The strength meter will update to reflect the actual entropy of the modified password.
